Funds raised by branch activities have been donated to state and local charities, as well as utility costs and building maintenance.
Members also contribute to ACWW by collecting Coins for Friendship donated to a variety of countries and five cent pieces for Polynesian nations.
The major fundraising activity each year for the branch is Bowral’s Tulip Time – the CWA café is open for the entire floral festival in September.
The kitchen brigade, floor staff, raffle ticket sellers and those in the craft room are all volunteers. The kitchen dispenses tea, scones, sandwiches and slices with much cheer. The craft room sells jam and craft made by members. The hours are long but the rewards are many. Look out for us in 2021!
Over the years, money has been donated to a range of local and other charities, which are reviewed annually.
Each year, the branch decides on which charities it might care to support for the coming year.
In 2020/21, Bowral branch donated to the following organisations:
- Triple Care Farm, Robertson,
- Bowral Public and High Schools,
- NSW Rural Fire Service,
- Bowral Hospital Auxiliary,
- NSW State Emergency Services, &
- Southern Highland families affected by bushfires.
The branch also sent money to CWA NSW to contribute to drought relief in NSW.
